Improved image, satisfaction, and morale with beautification, infrastructure, roads, and signage.
Dietetics and nutrition services improved with comprehensive renovation, equipment, and staff training.
Dental unit refurbished and equipped to provide services to in-patient population.
Social work activities improved to reduce the in-patient population.
Quality of care improved through resource gap reduction in nursing staff.
Clinical services improved through repairs and modification to critical service levels.
In-service education unit upgraded with modern technology for learning experience and meetings.
Staff cafeteria and recreation area renovated and equipped, with a total capacity.

The New Bellevue
Since the reorganization of Bellevue Hospital in 2010, there have been a number of significant achievements in the operation of the largest psychiatric institution in the English-speaking Caribbean.
These improvements are consistent with the government’s strategic mental health plan, particularly as it relates to de-institutionalization, de-stigmatization and de-centralisation.
To this end, the admission and discharge policy of the institution has been modified to ensure that patients are rehabilitated in the shortest possible time, and reintegrated into their communities.
Thus, admission of chronic psychiatric patients for long-stay is no longer accommodated.
